Captain High

Growing up I was a big fan of Captain High, a DJ from the Middletown station WHHI. It took awhile to track him down, but we did. Last night we talked to him for the Podcast. I truly hope he is okay.

Perfectly Lethal Podcast

Click on this post title to go to the brand new web site which hosts The Perfectly Lethal Podcast. We sat down last night and caught up with Gary Starr. Gary is a country singer who had some stories that paint a different view of the Country Music Scene.

It is not safe for work.

Iron This On When You Get Home

Superchunk. Even with this latest renewed time in the spotlight thanks to everyone and their brother having that "Hey, I love these guys! Where have they been!" moment last year when they released Majesty Shredding, I still don't think they get their due. I love this band. I used to have a cassette for my car that had Foolish on one side and Here's Where the Strings Come In on the other. It was one of the best cassettes I've ever played in my car, and, in fact, I'm pretty sure I destroyed it from over play.

The cassette was the soundtrack to the second best Taco Bell trip in the history of drinking in Springfield with my friend Dee. We listened to "Driveway to Driveway" about six times and sang along instead of ordering our food. It was incredible.

The best trip to Taco Bell with Dee didn't even take place in Springfield. It took place at the Brown Street location after the eyesinweasel show at Canal Street. The soundtrack? "A Summer Song" by Chad & Jeremy. I said one of the crudest things I've ever said to some jerk who was making faces at us. I won't repeat it here, but he had it coming and I regret nothing.

Here Comes the Sun

SPRING!!!!

Julia and I got back out on the trail today. It felt wonderful getting out in the sun and walking. I do know that I am going to need new shoes. Now, back to watching basketball for the rest of the day.

Saturday Basketball listening:

Circus Devils-Gringo
Zoome Presents #29 (Mix)
Superchunk-Majesty Shredding
Tobin Sprout-Antietam/Bluebirds of Happiness Tried to Land On My Shoulder
Jimmy Webb-Land's End
Galaxie 500-On Fire
Decemberists-The King Is Dead
Robert Pollard-Fiction Man
Wire-154
Guided by Voices-Devil Between My Toes
Boston Spaceships-Our Cubehouse Still Rocks

Cool seeing Butler win last night against Pittsburgh, but man a ridiculous finish! Not a good sign when you have to track down the director of officials to explain two different calls. I also like that Phil Martelli is on the pre-game show on Tru. It has been a good week of basketball.

March Madness

Watching basketball all day and cleaning:

Big Dipper-Supercluster
Rain Parade-Emergency Third Rail
Simon & Garfunkel-Bridge Over Troubled Water
The Exploding Lies-EP
Lifeguards-Waving At the Astronauts
Jefferson Airplane-Crown of Creation
REM-Collapse Into Now
Guided by Voices-Fast Japanese Spin Cycle

And saw GbV on the home turf on Wednesday. Incredible. I finally saw "Over the Neptune/Mesh Gear Fox, "Melted Pat," and "Wondering Boy Poet."
